In 2011, The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund was established to honor Robert Manuel Rodrigues, a teacher who knows that history is about the people who make it. A teacher who knows field trips and guest speakers are just as important as lectures and textbooks. A teacher who deserves a living tribute.

Robert Manuel Rodrigues, or Mr. Rod as his students call him, taught history at Chartiers Valley High School (CVHS) from 1974 until 2017 and continues to teach through local universities. Over the years, Mr. Rod has inspired thousands of students to further their knowledge of the past and better their communities for the future.

Each year since 2014, The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund has given a “Good Citizen” award to a senior graduating from CVHS. Beginning in 2022, we began giving two awards per year: one to a senior and one to a junior. Mr. Rod has dedicated his career to the CVHS community; now, it’s our turn to give back in his honor.

The Vietnam Symposium

One of Mr. Rod's signature events during his years teaching at Chartiers Valley High School was the annual Vietnam Symposium which offered students a peek into the experiences of the Vietnam War through a panel of veterans who lived it. We are excited to continue this event into Mr. Rod's retirement and make it available to a wider audience.
